     GERALD L. WHITE, Attorney and Certified Specialist in Bankruptcy Law

     I graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1976. I received my Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, in Sacramento, California, in 1979. I was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1979, and to the United States District Courts, Eastern and Northern Districts of California, when I started representing clients in bankruptcy, in 1982.

     I  received a Certificate of Specialization as a Certified Specialist in Bankruptcy Law from The State Bar of California, California Board of Legal Specialization on July 1, 2005.

     I am an active member of the State Bar of California, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Sacramento County Bar Association, Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section, and the Sacramento Valley Bankruptcy Forum. I served as a member of the Sacramento Bankruptcy Court Clerk's Attorney Advisory Committee for 6 years, during which I co-produced a training program for the Clerk's staff, and co-authored portions of the Clerk's public information booklet.

     I am regularly asked to serve as a panelist for the continuing education programs of the Sacramento County Bar Association and the Sacramento Valley Bankruptcy Forum. Most recently, I was asked by the Sacramento Valley Bankruptcy Forum to speak at a seminar on August 6, 2010, entitled " How To Get It Right - The First Time, Consumer Bankruptcy Practice - Chapters 7 and 13".  In February 2003, I worked with Judge Thomas Carlson, of the San Francisco Bankruptcy Court, Judge Richard Lee, of the Fresno Bankruptcy Court, and Antonia Darling, Assistant U. S. Trustee for the Eastern District of California, on a panel discussing eligiblity to file a chapter 7 bankruptcy, and in February 2007 was on a panel discussing  ethical issues arising from the 2005 Bankruptcy Amendments.  I have also been invited by the Chief Judges of the Eastern District of California, Sacramento Division,  to participate as a delegate and panelist at the Judicial Conference of the U. S. District Court, Eastern District of California, an annual conference of the judges, trustees and selected attorneys of the District, most recently in October 2002, 2003 and 2007. In 2002 I was a panelist with the Chief Judge of the Bankruptcy Court, Judge Michael McManus, discussing current procedures in Chapter 13 Bankruptcy cases, and in 2007 was on a panel discussing how the 2005 Bankruptcy Amendments affected practice in Chapters 7 and 13.

     On April 26, 2002, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys honored me with the designation, "Champion of the Order of Protectors of Consumer Debtors...In Recognition Of And Appreciation For The Extraordinary Contribution You Have Made To The National Association Of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys In The Fight To Preserve Basic Rights For Consumer Debtors In Bankruptcy".

     I have been awarded a BV-Distinguished peer rating from Martindale-Hubbell "which identifies a lawyer with very high ability" and is a "definite reflection of...exemplary professional expertise, experience and stature."

     I graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, with a Bachelors of Arts in Economics in 1976.  I received my Juris Doctor from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, in Sacramento, California, in 1979.  I was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1982, and to the United Stastes District Court, Eastern District of California, in 1982.
  
     I am an active member of the State Bar of California, National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Sacramento County Bar Association, Bankruptcy and Commercial Law Section, and the Sacramento Valley Bankruptcy Forum.
